Noise pollution and heavy fireworks at illegal party, riot police evacuate warehouse

An illegal party in an empty warehouse on the Hooiweg in Waspik was ended by the riot police on Saturday night. The police were alerted around 1 a.m. because loud music could be heard coming from the warehouse. There were a lot of cars and RVs parked nearby. There were almost a thousand people from several countries at the party.

Officers asked the organizers to stop the noise pollution, but they did not listen. Heavy fireworks were also regularly thrown. The riot police were then called so that the surveillance units could do their normal work.

Grim atmosphere and barricades
When the riot police appeared, the atmosphere became grimmer and entrances to the warehouse were barricaded. But in the end the revelers decided to give it their money’s worth and the music stopped. The warehouse was empty around half past four at night.

No arrests have been made.

Steps
Action may be taken against the organizers of the illegal event, the police said. The owner of the warehouse will also be informed to determine how something like this can be prevented in the future.
