Bleeding nose, a baby & clear words: Noga Erez delivered an emotional set at Coachella 2026 – and also spoke about her homeland.
At the first weekend of the Coachella Festival, Noga Erez delivered an intense and emotionally charged 45-minute performance.
The Israeli musician recently even stood on stage with a bleeding nose – according to observers who spoke up in the comments section, the result of an accidental collision with her daughter shortly before (whom she was also carrying in her arms) – and used the moment to send a personal message to the audience.
“So grateful”
Noga Erez opened with her new song “Duck Season,” followed by fan favorites like “Dumb” and “End of the Road.” Between tracks, Erez addressed the crowd openly: She was “so grateful” to be here at all, after leaving Tel Aviv under wartime conditions brought with it enormous challenges.
At the same time, she was deeply shocked by the situation in her homeland. For her, music is currently a means of bringing people together. Her words were specific: “I’m just heartbroken and sad about the things that are happening at home and around me,” said Erez. He continued: “I just love this music thing so much, and that’s why I’m doing it right now: to bring a group of strangers together and make them feel like family, united by something. We can do it. This is Coachella – just fucking incredible.”
The performance became more than a concert: a statement between euphoria and pain.
Career between electro-pop and political consciousness
Noga Erez comes from Tel Aviv and has established himself as one of the most exciting voices in international electro-pop in recent years. Together with her partner and producer Ori Rousso, she developed a sound that combines electronic beats with politically charged lyrics. Her debut album “Off the Radar” (2017) brought her international attention, and its follow-up “Kids” (2021) cemented her as a global indie artist. The 36-year-old consolidated her status with “The Vandalist” (2024).
Erez now stands for a modern, cross-genre pop concept that is well received in both Europe and the USA. She toured worldwide, played at major festivals and built an ever-growing fan base. In mid-July she will also perform here at the Lollapalooza Festival in Berlin.
Her gig at Coachella marks another milestone – not least because she was and will be the first Israeli artist to stand on this stage, symbolically achieving a new level of visibility.
Between perspectives: The war as a background
The current war between Israel and Gaza forms the inevitable backdrop for Erez’s performance – and for many cultural voices around the world. For many Israelis, the situation is characterized by fear, uncertainty and the trauma of the attacks on October 7, 2023. Artists like Erez are faced with the challenge of combining personal concern with international publicity.
At the same time, attention is focused on the humanitarian situation in the Gaza Strip, which is being sharply criticized internationally. Many voices emphasize the suffering of the civilian population, call for ceasefires and point out the dramatic conditions on site. This perspective is becoming increasingly visible in the global cultural scene – including on festival stages and in statements from artists.
A complex field of tension arises between these positions that cannot be easily resolved. While some expect a clear political stance, others advocate restraint or a focus on unifying elements such as music. Erez’s words on stage reflect exactly this ambivalence: sadness, gratitude and the attempt to create a shared moment despite everything.
Coachella 2026: Two weekends, global appeal
The Coachella Festival traditionally takes place on two consecutive weekends in April in Indio, California – April 10-12 and April 17-19 in 2026. With around 100 acts on several stages, it is one of the most important music festivals in the world.
In addition to Noga Erez, this year there are numerous international stars and up-and-coming acts on the line-up, which ranges from pop to hip-hop to electronic music. There are and have been shows by Justin Bieber, Sabrina Carpenter, Karol G, The xx, Jack White and Slayyyter, among others.
