Because he wanted to give something back to his hometown part, U21 national goalkeeper Noah Atubolu made it possible for almost 30 children. They were able to look forward to a trip to the sun.
28 children and adolescents from the Weingarten district of Freiburg spent an eleventh holiday leisure in Spain with their families in August. The trip to the Costa Brava was financially supported by SC goalkeeper Noah Atubolu. The 23-year-old comes from the neighborhood himself.
In previous years, free time led to the Black Forest. This time the goal was different. “Now many said: We want to go to the sea,” reports Karin Seebacher from the Kinder- und Jugendtreff Weingarten compared to the “Badische Zeitung”. The journey was organized together with the neighborhood meeting.
The fact that the desire for Spain became a reality was due to Atubolu. He said, “I always realized that if I continue to do it – I would like to give back money or time.” The SC professional added: “I am very pleased that I was able to make people so happy.”
When meeting in the children’s and youth club, photos of the trip were shown- from the beach, from the ice cream stand, from cooking, from excursions to Barcelona and Calella. Atubolu was also present. Many children came to SC jerseys, there were autographs, mini footballs and photos.
Atubolu spoke about his connection to the district: “Weingarten shaped me. You just learn to be ripe early.” Part of his family still lives there. “I’m in the district every day,” said the goalkeeper.
Seebacher recalled that Atubolu attended kindergarten and school in Weingarten. He also regularly took part in leisure activities: “And Noah was always there at our midnight kick in the hall.” At that time it was often played on the “cage” – a football field near the youth center.
The SC goalkeeper did not specifically comment on the national team at the meeting. But he is aware of his role: “It is my goal to be a motivation – not only for the children from here, but for everyone.” He didn’t want to use the word “hero” for himself: “A big word,” said Atubolu.
