No surprise: Russia vetoes UN resolution condemning annexation | War Ukraine and Russia

Ten countries voted in New York for the document submitted by the United States and Albania. The text also calls on Russia to immediately withdraw militarily from Ukraine. Four countries in the most powerful UN body with a total of 15 members abstained. Those were China, India, Brazil and Gabon.

Russian UN ambassador Vasily Nebenzija called the vote a provocation and an openly hostile act. The draft resolution is expected to be submitted to the UN General Assembly in the coming days.
