The water polo players from Spandau 04 cannot compete against Waspo Hannover in the DSV Supercup on Saturday. The first game in the Champions League against VK Novi Beograd on Wednesday was also canceled and scored 10-0 for the Serbs.

The reason: After returning from the training camp in Serbia the previous week, there was a corona outbreak in Spandau, which, according to information from 04 manager Peter Röhle, has affected ten players to varying degrees.

Champion Hanover, currently in the training camp in Barcelona, has not approved the application to relocate the Supercup. 04 President Hagen tribe described this decision as a “farce”.

Hagen Stamm (62), former water polo coach: “I owe my nickname to BZ. She baptized me in 1981 because of my blond hair and because I threw not insignificantly many goals

“Responsibility for the players”

Also Peter Rohle sees no sporting sense in starting a Spandau core team. “We also have a responsibility to protect the players, including the opponent’s, by the way,” he said. This has nothing to do with a refusal to play.

After the surprising resignation of national coach Petar Porobic (Montenegro), the former 04 coach and later and current national youth coach Nebojsa Novoselac will lead the upcoming A selection course from November 20th to 23rd in Hanover. The 21 invited players include twelve Waspo and five Spandau players.
