The court ruled this week. The woman had driven from the Free University over the Buitenveldertsselaan to Amstelveen and had parked after about a kilometer drive. She thought she didn’t have to pay there and therefore went to court after receiving the parking fine.

The court has the route with Google Streetview Checked and also saw no signs or parking machines. “The court agrees with the claimant that it is insufficiently clear that parking tax is due in the relevant parking space, since it had not had to be thought of on that,” it says in the judgment.
The municipality came up with the defense that there is a parking machine in the vicinity of the parking lot, in the Radboud street with the number 18845. In that street there are also a few signs that state that there are paid parking.
