Fans have to wait: Soundgarden’s final record appears at the earliest after the Hall of Fame Ceremomy.
Fans of Soundgarden have to be patient: A final album of the rock band is in progress, but will not be released on November 8th before being admitted to the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. This was confirmed by drummer Matt Cameron in an interview with “Billboard”.
Recommendations of the editorial team
“There is still no permanent publication date,” says Cameron. “We wanted to make sure the whole album was ready before we even think about singles. I am pleased that people can hear it at some point.”
Cameron, who reinforced the band in 1986 and has been involved in all publications since then, will be included in the Rock Hall for the second time this year, after his honor with Pearl Jam 2017. But the drummer made it clear to “Billboard”: the sound garden is particularly important for him. “I have built this band on with me, that makes it more personal and artistically valuable,” he said.
Sound garden play at “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame” ceremony
An appearance of the band is planned for the Hall of Fame Ceremony in Los Angeles, which is broadcast live to Disney+. How the vocal traces of Chris Cornell, who died in 2017, is still open. After all, according to “Yahoo Entertainment” it is certain that original bass player Hiro Yamamoto will be involved.
The upcoming album is based on eight songs that Soundgarden had developed together before Cornell’s death in 2017. “We are over half,” said Cameron. “Kim Thayil is still working on his guitar parts.” Working on the material is painful for the band at the same time: “It is unbelievable to hear Cornell’s voice and at the same time heartbreaking because it is no longer there.”
Until then, King Animal from 2012 remains the last published longplayer. When the new work will actually appear is open.
