High schools, MBOs, HBOs and university courses that want to book an outing to Efteling this year, are out of luck. The amusement park is, as it were, ‘sold out’ for 2025. Schools that have already booked do not have to worry. Those onions just continue as planned. Primary schools that still want to go to Efteling this year can still book.

Since the Coronaper period, Efteling has a maximum number of school trips per day. Then this was necessary to ensure that the amusement park could open. “Then we arrested this method because we see that school trips affect the guest experience,” explains a spokeswoman.

Hassle with young people
It seems that Efteling wants to prevent too many rebellious teenagers and young people from influencing the atmosphere for other guests. The spokeswoman does not want to confirm or deny that, but the fact is that the amusement park has had a hassle several times with groups of young people. It is therefore not surprising that they therefore set a limit to the number of school trips.

That for primary schools that are still available to the Efteling this year, it seems to confirm this. Younger children have a different influence on the atmosphere in the park than teenagers and young people. “We know from research that school trips influence the guest experience. That is why we use a maximum per day.”

Meeting a permit
The fact that a stop on new school trips is intended for the rest of this year to limit the number of guests in the park in order to meet the nature permit, the Efteling refers to the realm of fables. “We have already established the maximum number of school trips in the Coronapandemie because they influence the experience of other visitors. But that stops in control the total number of visitors.”

Last year the amusement park was 4.9 million unique visitors, but the total amounted to 5.6 million. That difference is because 700,000 people stayed in the park for several days, but according to Efteling only made the journey there and back once. According to the nature permit, Efteling may only receive five million visitors a year.

Plus
Due to the stop on school trips, De Efteling does not expect that many schools are now fishing behind the net because before 2025 all places are forgiven. “We see that usually school trips are further planned and reserved at the beginning of the year.”

The amusement park cannot make statements or it is wise to book a school or class outing for a certain period. But school trips for 2026 can still be booked for all educational institution says the spokeswoman.
