No future at PSG? Premier League club interested in Julian Draxler

He missed the PSG training camp and probably has no future in Paris. Now Newcastle United are said to be interested in the international.

According to a French media report, German national soccer player Julian Draxler could switch from Paris Saint-Germain to the English Premier League. Newcastle United are said to be interested in the 28-year-old midfielder, as reported by the “le10sport.com” portal on Monday. Draxler is said to be on the sales list for the French master. According to the report, there have already been initial talks between Newcastle and PSG about possible transfer terms. There should also have been initial soundings with the Draxler side. Newcastle are a controversial club due to their Saudi owners.

A few months ago there were reports that Draxler and national team colleague Thilo Kehrer were among a number of professionals that PSG and new coach Christophe Galtier wanted to part with before the new season.

Draxler is absent from Japan trip

Most recently, Draxler was not part of the Paris squad for a pre-season trip to Japan. Unlike Draxler, however, Kehrer was part of the 25-man squad.

Draxler has been playing for Paris since the beginning of 2017, his contract runs until June 30, 2024. In the spring, the ex-Schalke and Wolfsburg player underwent surgery on the lateral meniscus in his right knee. Like Kehrer, he has hopes of participating in the World Cup in Qatar, but for that he would have to play regularly for his club.
