That report was made by Volendammer Nico Kwakman. The amateur researcher into combat aircraft that delivered around the Markermeer Battle during the Second World War, Had strong suspicions that there could be unexpected bombs on the dike. The HHNK took Nico’s report seriously and stopped the work.

Extensive report

Now the Water Board announces that no explosives were found after extensive research. “An independent specialist in detecting explosives has investigated the situation for us. The extensive report shows that we can safely resume work.”

According to the HHNK, there are no factual indications that bombs are bombs somewhere in the area. The work also takes place in land that was laid down after the war, or in which work has already been during the war.

Work resumed next week

The Water Board expects the work to start again next week. Incidentally, the work was not completely stopped: the HHNK has moved the work on the dike a few hundred meters.
