No drowning person found at Steenbergen, search stopped

Emergency services combed a flooded area near the Norgerweg near Steenbergen this morning in search of a possible drowning person. But no one has been found.

All alarm bells went off around half past seven after an unattended bicycle was found on a flooded cycle path. Because no owner was present with the bicycle, bystanders called the emergency services. Firefighters in waders combed ditches and the flooded area, while police investigated who owned the bicycle. The road was partly closed.

After a search of more than half an hour, the action was ended. The owner of the bicycle has not been found, the vehicle has been taken to the police station.
