Nils Eekhoff wins prologue of ZLM Tour

Cyclist Nils Eekhoff won the ZLM Tour prologue on Wednesday evening. The Dutch rider of Team DSM was the fastest on a course over 6.6 kilometers in Heinkenszand in Zeeland.

Eekhoff finished in 7.27, with an average of over 53 kilometers per hour. He was only one second faster than Australian Alexander Edmondson. The Dutchman Olav Kooij finished third with almost the same time. He won the stage race last year.

The ZLM Tour this year is largely a real Brabant round. The prologue on Wednesday evening and the first stage on Thursday are still in Zeeland, but on Friday morning the peloton will be ready in Schijndel for a 184 kilometer ride to Buchten in Limburg.

Saturday and Sunday it will be a Brabant party. Saturday 10 June the start and finish is in Roosendaal, on Sunday the ride starts and ends in Oosterhout.
