Nils Eekhoff crashed hard in the eighteenth stage of the Tour de France. The 24-year-old rider from Rijsenhout fell due to a motorcycle.
Eekhoff was behind the pack with Jack Bauer and was on the way back. At a narrowing of the road, the engines squeezed the brakes hard, after which both riders landed hard on the ground. Eekhoff flew through the air after contact with the engine. Bauer slammed into the UAE team manager’s car.
Both Eekhoff and Bauer were able to continue the stage. The engine has been taken off course by the organization. The riders are on their way in the last mountain stage of this Tour de France. The finish is on the heroic Hautacam.
