Presenter Niko Saarinen finally got into summer clubs. The experience was rewarding for him, but when he returned home on the phone, there was a flood of messages.

Niko Saarinen, the presenter and socialloo, traveled to the summer clubs on Saturday.

– I have had a pure interest to go to summer clubs for eternity. I feel like a believer. Many people do not know when they see only one surface, Saarinen tells Iltalehti on Sunday.

– I don’t know if I’ve ever spoken about faith. Maybe somebody said in a passing sentence, Saarinen continues.

He says he has been raised in Christianity and has been taught evening prayers. Saarinen does not go to worship, but sometimes prays.

– Religion goes with my life in another way. In the difficult moments of life in my life, I feel that if a person gets help or relief through faith, it cannot be wrong, says Saarinen.

Difference to festivals

Saarinen went to the event with a friend who is a former Lestadian.

– I went really open and I was receptive. It was an enriching experience, Saarinen rejoices.

Saarinen believes that he got more from experience when he was there with his friend.

– I asked a lot and got a lot of information. The experience was so full. For example, the fact that food is queued for an hour is there. It is and talked to people. There nobody is nervous in queues, it was a funny thing for me. I have experienced a five -minute queue for a five -minute queue in a Ruisrock, but there was a quick wait, Saarinen laughs.

Saarinen has wanted to bring his own perspective on the event. He admits that summer clubs have been the subject of negative news. Activists who shared stickers to tolerance were given outrageous behavior.

– Personally, I found the event really calm and safe. Often at festivals with a lot of drunk and I have been drunk myself, situations can be dangerous. There everything was more authentic, Saarinen says.

Saarinen is sorry for those for whom the experience has been bad.

– I do not represent all Finnish homosexuals. Equally, not all people who believe in Finland are represented in summer clubs.

Many stopped Saarinen at the event.

– We talked to one unknown couple for probably 10 minutes. I’ve never talked to strangers for just as long.

– One young boy came to ask if I would like to come to sit with them. Even though I didn’t go, it was extremely sweet to me. People were really polite, Saarinen says.

Messages came as a shock

When Saarinen left the area of the summer clubs in the evening and there was a field on the phone again, he was surprised by the message he received. Saarinen says he has even received guilty comments. He had also been linked to news written about summer clubs.

– It came as a surprise and shock. I wouldn’t have guessed that my participation would have gotten people into such feelings. There were terrible messages among them. I’m used to that all things arouse feelings for and against, Saarinen says.

However, most of the messages were positive, Saarinen estimates.
