The sixth race weekend of the Supersport World Series was held in the Czech Republic at the Most track. Wounded in Portugal Niki Tuuli had to miss the races in Italy and England, but returned to MV-Agusta’s horns in Most.

On Friday, Tuuli got a feel for the bike after a long riding break, and the pace was already at a good level from the first practices. At the end of the day, Tuuli was tenth fastest.

On Saturday, Tuulen’s good start was wasted in qualifying. On the second pull, the front tire slipped under and the time trial ended there. The disappointed Finn had to settle for seventeenth on the starting grid, but the difference to the top was only a good second.

In Saturday’s race, Tuuli survived the crashes in the first corner and immediately rose to twelfth place. The wind rose in the rankings and caught up with the group competing for second place. With a fierce finish, Tuuli moved up a couple of places to sixth place and was only a second short of second place. He won the competition by far Lorenzo Baldassarri.

– The race was physically very tough because the condition is still not at its best after the injury. Sixth place from a bad starting position was a top performance, Tuuli commented in the press release.

In Sunday’s race, Tuuli, who started from the middle of the group, was in eighteen place after the first corners. Four laps before the checkered flag, the one driving in front of the wind Steven Odendaal fell and the bike was left in a bad place on the track and the race was stopped with a red flag.

The results at the time of interruption remained valid and Tuuli was found in tenth place. Baldassarri won the competition again.

– It was great to get back to driving. Yes, it felt a bit strange at first, but then little by little it went away. It wasn’t easy, but luckily the injured leg wasn’t very painful, Lauta said after the competition.

Still, the Finn was not fully fit after the amputation of three toes.

– However, my leg got tired very quickly and I couldn’t really turn the bike properly from side to side. However, it was a relief to notice that the speed had not disappeared anywhere.

Tuuli gets to rehabilitate itself for the summer break. The next race will be held The Supersport class World Championship will be held in France at the beginning of September.
