The first reports of the fire came to the control room around 10:25 p.m. The fire brigade responded to the fire with a lot of equipment, including an aerial work platform and a drone team. The fire released a lot of smoke and caused odor nuisance in the neighborhood.
Detecting sources of fire took a lot of time
Tracing the sources of the fire and ventilating the enormous building ultimately took until late at night. Around 3.35 am, the Zaanstreek-Waterland Safety Region indicated that the fire was out and that the fire brigade was packing up.
What exactly caught fire and how it happened is still unknown. There were no injuries.
