After the draw, the series went to penalty shoot-outs, and Nigeria outperformed its opponent 4-2 and finished the tournament in third place. Egypt finished the organization in fourth place.
In Nigeria, Paul Onuachu started the match in the first 11 and was replaced by Ademola Lookman in the 46th minute. While Victor Osimhen did not play in the match, Wilfred Ndidi finished the match on the bench.
With this result, Nigeria achieved its 7th third place in the history of the African Cup of Nations.
