Thomas Mein followed a little further and managed to join his cart at the front just before the start of the third of a total of nine laps. After 18 minutes of cross, the leading group increased to ten riders with the addition of Joran Wyseure, Viktor Vandenberghe and Anton Ferdinande.
Half cross, only Kamp, Vanthourenhout, Ferdinande, Vandeputte, Lauryssen, Mason and Vandenberghe remained at the front. In the seventh round Vandenberghe had to let go. Kamp and Vanthourenhout fought a fierce battle until the latter crashed on the College Bridge and disappeared from the leading group.
