Niels Laros is the fastest Dutchman in the 3000 meters running ever. The 19-year-old athlete from Oosterhout ran that record on Thursday at indoor competitions athletics in LiƩvin, France. The new top time of Laros was almost eight seconds faster than the old Dutch record.

Laros fought a duel in the 3000 meters with the Ethiopian Biniam Mehary, who finished second. De Brabander won in France in a time of 7.29.49.

With his time, he took almost eight seconds from the old top time of 7.37.10, who had noted his training buddy Stefan Nillessen in Karlsruhe last Friday.
