The Tilburg Niek Moonen sells fairground attraction De Energizer. The fairground operator is sick and indicates that he no longer has to live for long. The attraction was shown at several fairs in the Netherlands last year. In April a girl fell from the attraction. Since Friday the Energizer is for sale, with the request to contact us only in the event of serious interest.

In a Facebook message, Moonen announced that he is incurably ill. “Today had the results of everything I have had again in recent weeks,” he writes. “Unfortunately it was not what we had hoped for together. Unfortunately I don’t have long to live and treatment is no longer possible.”

The fair attraction is one for real daredevils. There are benches on a rotating arm that run again. Niek Moonen brought the special attraction from the Czech Republic to the Netherlands in 2022. Here the thrill The name Energizer and was renovated.

‘It’s his lust and life’
The Brabant fair entrepreneur operates the attraction together with his wife and two sons. His wife writes under the sales report that they have to sell the attraction ‘with a lot of sorrow’. “My husband has a heart of gold for the fair, it’s his lust and his life. He always did his best to breathe new life into the unique attractions with his fantastic ideas and designs.”

Hundreds of responses have been posted under the Facebook message from Moonen. “No words for it. What is everything sometimes unfair,” Miranda writes. “What a terrible result. I wish you a lot of strength the upcoming time,” Michel said in a response.

The fairground operator thanks everyone who has supported him in the last few weeks: “I hope I see you all again, but today I’m just through it.”

Fall from attraction and malfunction
On April 28 it went wrong with the Energizer at the fair in Hilversum. A 14-year-old girl was injured after a meter-high fall from the attraction. She broke an arm and was taken to the hospital with an ambulance. Immediately after the accident, the Energizer was stopped and was only allowed to run from the Dutch Food and Consumer Product Safety Authority (NVWA) at the end of June at the fair in Dordrecht.

Prior to the Tilburg fair in July, it was exciting for Moonen again. It was then announced that the Energizer had had a malfunction at the fair in Best in early July. As a result, the fairground operator had let the fair of Panningen pass by. After replacing a set of two engines, Moonen managed to get the attraction on time.

Still to be seen in Breda
The Energizer will still be shown at the fair in Breda from 10 to 19 October. What will happen to the attraction afterwards is unknown. Fair entrepreneur Tonny Kroon, who sells the Energizer for the family, asks to only contact serious interest.
