Nicolás Posse, the new strong man of Milei

Nicolás José Posse met Javier Milei at Corporación América. They worked on different topics, but they were brought together by an ambitious project by Eduardo Eurnekian called the Aconcagua Bioceanic Corridor, which consisted of a high-tech train that would link the Atlantic and the Pacific, including a 52-kilometer-long low-rise tunnel that would cross the Cordillera. of the Andes. At that time, Posse was Eurnekian’s darling because of the magnitude of the work, but as the years went by, the money and enthusiasm ran out. The project failed and Posse, in 2016, began managing the El Palomar Airport, which was just being activated as a commercial airport. Between 2009 and that year he had lived daily with Milei, because the libertarian leader, who was the chief economist of Corporación América, was also affected by the project. Together they often traveled to Chile for the Bioceanic Corridor and, outside of the work relationship, they struck up a friendship, which today unites them behind a political desire. During the years of the project, Milei and Posse became immersed in the Chilean public works financing system and sought to replicate and adapt it in Argentina.

What is your role? From La Libertad Avanza they explain that Posse is in charge of organizing the technical teams for an eventual landing in the Executive Branch. Among the areas in which they are already working are Education, Health, Energy, Mining and Housing, among others. There they have specialists from the private world, academia and technical staff from the State who agree with Milei’s ideas.

All of this is under the umbrella of a civil association called Institute for Growth, which, in addition to being a libertarian think tank, also channels financial contributions to Milei’s political project. One of the collaborators of this foundation, called Fátima Monteverde, has contacted businessmen to ask for contributions. It was clear to those businessmen that the manga was for Milei’s campaign. “Several businessmen say that Nicolás Posse was the link to put money into the libertarian,” says Juan Luis González in “El Loco,” the unauthorized biography of the candidate.

The civil association Institute for Growth has been operating since December 2022 in an office at 1400 Córdoba Street, owned by Francisco Caputo, brother of Santiago Caputo, one of Milei’s main political advisors and a relative of Nicolás and “Toto” Caputo. the macrista branch of the family.

Past. Posse joined Corporación América in 2007, led by Guillermo Francos (see box). Milei entered a year later at the hands of Leonardo Madcur, Massa’s current chief of advisors. Posse was the CEO of the company that controls the Duty Free airports and then moved on to the Aconcagua Bioceanic Corridor megaproject. When the project failed, he went on to manage the El Palomar airport and later joined the Patagonia business unit, which includes all the airports the group has from the Colorado River down. A few weeks ago he was placed on unpaid leave. For Corporación América, especially for the business units that are suppliers to the State, Milei’s growth became counterproductive. If he becomes president, the tenders in which Eurnekian companies participate will be in the crosshairs. As an example is Ángelo Calcaterra, Mauricio Macri’s cousin who had to sell his company due to the impossibility of contracting public works.

The group created by Eurnekian not only gave Milei work and friends. She is also becoming the quarry of her officials. Guillermo Francos, one of Eurnekian’s great friends – they swim together on weekends – will be the Minister of the Interior; Mariano Cúneo Libarona, trusted criminal lawyer of the owner of Corporación América, is rumored to be the Minister of Justice. The second candidate for senator for the province of Buenos Aires, Gladys Humenuk, is the head of Management Control of AA2000. And Posse himself is mentioned as a future Chief of Staff. And something else: in the space they point him out as the man with whom you have to talk to aspire to some position in the organizational chart of a hypothetical libertarian government.

For Milei, Aeropuertos Argentina 2000 also gave him friends on the other side of the divide: with Fernando Muriel, former director of the company for the State and current vice president of Orsna, he has a good bond. You can say that he is her friend K.

Posse and Milei met in the private world and made the leap to the other side of the counter. They are getting closer to power. Always together.
