An incurable disease ended the life of Nicolas Giani, 39 years old, former defender – among others – of Spal and Vicenza, who grew up in Inter’s youth team. He leaves behind his wife, Raluca, and a daughter, Bianca.

The career of Nicolas, originally from Como, began with the Nerazzurri. In the mid-2000s, the parenthesis at Cremonese and the move to Pro Patria for two seasons. But it was in 2008-09, when he moved to Vicenza, with Gregucci on the bench, that Giani also began to play as a full-back, confirming that he had important technical skills to cover every role in the back pack. After four years at Vicenza with a brief stint at Perugia (2013), Giani moved to Spal and wrote the history of the Ferrara club, contributing, in the space of two years, between 2015 and 2017, to the double leap from Serie C (then Lega Pro) to A, a championship from which Spal had been absent for 49 years. Two B tournaments with Spezia, three in C with FeralpiSalò and one in D (2021-22) with Desenzano heralded the discovery of the disease which, after about four years of treatment and suffering, took him away.
