After the Easter holidays in Flanders, the school holiday in French -speaking Belgium will also start from Saturday. That spring vacation takes two weeks. Traditionally, a lot of French -speaking Belgians drop to the coast during the holidays. Thanks to the extended weekend of May 1 and the predicted beautiful weather, the booking figures are higher this year at the start of the holiday than last year.
The average occupation at coastal hotels is 55 percent for the first week of the holiday, with peaks to 75 percent during the extended weekend of 1 May. According to Westtoer, the good weather forecasts will still provide additional bookings on the coast.
