The Tennessee Titans surprised their first overall Pick Cam Ward with a jersey campaign.

First Pick Cam Ward is allowed to play the number 1 on the Jersey at Tennessee Titans, although the NFL franchise no longer does not give this number.

A prominent surprise guest stopped by at Ward’s introductory press conference on Friday and brought this message to the quarterback.

Hall of famer Warren Moon held a jersey with number 1 in his hands and welcomed Ward to the Titans.

In 2006 the Moons number actually had retired. The quarterback played for ten years for the Houston Oilers, where the Titans played before moving to Tennessee. The former NFL professional keeps the franchise record at Passing Yards and Passing Touchdowns. He led the team into the playoffs six times. In 1993 he left the Oilers, in 2000 he ended his career. In contrast to Ward, Moon was Undrafted, went through the Canadian Football League before the Oilers managed to make a breakthrough.

Tennessee Titans: Number is awarded to cam ward

The franchise icon hugged the young quarterback and presented the jersey with number 1.

“I came here because I have great respect for this young man,” said Moon. “Many of our life paths are similar in relation to all the things that were told that he was not good enough. Nobody gave him this great chance, but he just fought and continued to work.”

He wore number 1 for many different reasons, explained Moon. “I wore it for a long time, started in 1976 when I was on the college. I think I wore them very honorably for the Houston Oilers, to the point where I built up a Hall of Fame career,” said the Hall-of-Famer. “Now I’m part of the Tennessee-Titans family and my Houston Oilers jersey will probably never be worn again, I hope it doesn’t, but the Tennessee Titans jersey will be worn by cam and cam will bring a new freshness to this organization to revive it and bring it back where it was.”
