Accused of attempted murder. Arrested, taken into custody by investigators in Dubai and taken to the United States to stand trial, he risks up to 15 years in prison. That the story of Antonio Brown, an exceptional former NFL receiver, was not headed towards a happy ending is not surprising. He had done all sorts of things, on and off the gridiron during his career as a star for the Pittsburgh Steelers and Tampa Bay Bucs. But a twist like this was hard to expect. A punch in the stomach for the many fans of the 37-year-old former target of Ben Rothlisberger and Tom Brady, NFL champion in 2021 with the Buccaneers who won Super Bowl LV.

They date back to May 16th. To a shooting that occurred in Miami at a boxing event. Brown is accused of taking the weapon from a security guard and then shooting a man, Zul-Qarnain Kwame Nantambu, with whom he had previously had an argument that escalated into a fistfight. At the time of the events Brown had been detained and then released by the local police. An arrest warrant was issued against him on June 11th. Brown was now in Dubai, in the United Arab Emirates, it is not clear whether on holiday or with intentions of permanent residence to stay as far away from trouble as possible.
