Puka Nacua regularly makes headlines. While they are mostly sporting during the NFL season, the Los Angeles Rams superstar seems to be struggling with problems off the field. That’s why he’s now getting professional help.

The Rams wide receiver therefore went to a rehabilitation clinic. His lawyer Levi McCathern confirmed this to the California Post on Wednesday.

A woman in Los Angeles filed a lawsuit against Nacua last month. In it, she accuses him of making an “unprovoked anti-Semitic statement” on New Year’s Eve and later biting her on the shoulder. The lawsuit includes allegations of gender-based violence, assault and negligence, among other things.

However, according to McCathern, Nacua had been in the clinic for an “extended period of time” before the allegations became public and would continue to remain there. The aim of the stay is to “improve his behavior in all areas of life.”

The lawyer also emphasized that his client “clearly” rejected the allegations. There is video material that suggests that the plaintiff’s behavior does not correspond to the allegations made.

NFL: Backing McVay

The incident is also known to the Rams. Head coach Sean McVay said at the NFL meeting that they were continuing to collect all information. “I trust his character. We want to support him and help him develop before we rush to judgment,” said McVay.

According to his attorney, Nacua should complete the program in time to participate in the Rams’ offseason activities (OTAs).

Nacua, who was drafted in the fifth round in 2023, can sign a contract extension starting this offseason. As the Rams have those conversations, McVay said Nacua is aware of the responsibility of representing the organization.

“His accomplishments on the field are impressive and because of what the game entails, with that comes a responsibility to represent everything – not just that,” McVay said. “He knows that. Those are the expectations and we hope that this will be an opportunity for him to learn and grow,” said the head coach

“We hope that he remains a Ram for a very long time, but he understands what the responsibility is – and it is not just limited to performance on the field,” was the clear message to Nacua
