Neymar should be interested in returning to a European top league. Now, however, he showed himself in the jersey of an association that it will probably not end.
Football superstar Neymar surprised in an Instagram post with his outfit. In his story, the 33-year-old Brazilian shared a photo on which he also wears an old jersey of Bundesliga club FC St. Pauli in addition to striking sunglasses.
How Neymar became aware of the internationally unknown Hamburg club and where he got the jersey from is unknown.
Neymar is currently playing for his youth club FC Santos in Brazil, where he had already started his career. He had fled home after his Saudi Arabia adventure at Al-Hilal had failed after only one and a half years. In the desert, Neymar hardly came to the time due to a cruciate ligament tear suffered in October 2023.
At FC Santos, Neymar seemed to play back in shape, and was also appointed to the squad for the World Cup qualifiers of the Brazilian national team. However, due to renewed muscular problems, there has been no comeback in the “Seleção”.
At FC Santos, Neymar’s career should not end. His contract there only runs until the end of the season. With good performance, he apparently would like to continue to return to one of the European top leagues. Most recently, it was said that he was going to return to FC Barcelona, where he spent his most successful time between 2013 and 2017, at the time alongside Lionel Messi and Luis Suárez.
But FC Barcelona already rejected the ex-star’s attempts to approach and the great reunification of the three South Americans will not become anything for the time being. Messi and Suárez kick together in the Major League Soccer at Inter Miami, but Neymar is also left out there. Miami trainer Javier Mascherano recently said that there were no financial options for a Neymar obligation.
It is also unlikely that Neymar could be looking for a new club in the Bundesliga to FC St. Pauli. Apart from the lack of sporting and financial possibilities of Hamburg, players and clubs also separate politically worlds. Because while the neighborhood club, like hardly any other club, always positions itself on the left, Neymar has been among the supporters of the right-wing Brazilian ex-President Jair Bolsonaro in the past. Neymar’s arrival in Hamburg would be anything but welcome to fans alone.
