Vitesse announces coming new trainer
Vitesse has officially made the appointment of Rüdiger Rehm. The German coach signs a contract until 2026, with an option for another year.
Rehm is, after Heinrich Schwarz, Herbert Neumann and Thomas Letsch, the fourth German head coach in the history of the Arnhem club. Rehm started his trainer career at the German SG Sonnenhof Großaspach, where he fulfilled a special double function in the aftermath of his player career.
In the 2008 | 2009 season, head coach Thomas Letsch, later successful trainer at Vitesse, asked him to act as an assistant trainer as an assistant trainer. The two German trainers, who have known each other for more than fifteen years, built up a good friendship together and still have intensive contact. The conversations with Letsch Rehm gave the last push to Arnhem: ,, Thomas knows this club like no other and when he heard that Vitesse was talking to me, he had nothing but praise for the club. For me, those words were the deciding factor in my choice. ”
Then Rehm worked at Aspach, Arminia Bielefeld, SV Wehen Wiesbaden, FC Ingolstadt 04 and SV Waldhof Mannheim. At Vitesse he is the successor of John van den Brom, whose expiring contract was not extended. Van den Brom is the intended new trainer of ADO Den Haag.
Timo Braasch, general manager Ad Interim van Vitesse, further explains the choice for Rehm: ,, With Rüdiger Rehm we bring in a trainer that not only fits perfectly with our sporting ambitions, but also has a proven track record in the development of young players and the creatable playing style. His experience, character and sporting vision seamlessly connect with the policy of our technical heart and together with him we take the next step in the reconstruction of Vitesse ”.
Rehm itself is very pleased with his contract with Vitesse: ,, For me this step feels very logical. I spoke a lot with Thomas Letsch about the club, the city and the people. I recognize myself in the ambition that the club now radiates. I look forward to working with the young, ambitious group of players and with the rest of the people within the club. In this way I hope to be able to contribute to the resurrection of Vitesse, step by step and together with everyone who has a warm heart for Vitesse ”.
