Another dangerous incident occurred on the third stage of the 2023 Tour de France.
As on Sunday, unknown perpetrators had apparently distributed tacks on the street. Around 70 km before the day’s finish in Bayonne, several professionals had to change their bikes in a very short time, the thumbtacks could be seen on the TV pictures.
There were no falls, and all the drivers affected quickly caught up with the field.
The race had already been disrupted in this way on the second stage. French professional cyclist Lilian Calmejane (Intermarche-Circus-Wanty) shared a video on Twitter on Sunday showing five thumbtacks in his front tire.
“Thank you for this nonsense. That’s why you can fall and seriously hurt yourself, you idiots,” wrote Calmejane.
