With Coco Gauff, it gets the next big name at the Grand Slam tournament in London. The world ranking second experiences a bitter day.
It was barely three weeks ago that Coco Gauff was able to celebrate their victory at the French Open-at the next Grand Slam tournament in Wimbledon, the American experienced an evil awakening. In the first round of the traditional tournament in London, the world ranking second of the Ukrainian Dajana Jastremska (46th place) was surprisingly lost 6: 7 (3: 7), 1: 6. The dream of the first Wimbledon title broke early for the 21-year-old.
Gauff’s defeat was one of several surprises at the traditional Grand Slam tournament in London. In addition to Gauff, Jessica Pegula from the USA, China’s Olympic champion Zheng Qinwen and Paula Badosa from Spain had to cut the sails in addition to Gauff.
It also caught prominent names for the men: Alexander Zverev failed in the first round (more about this here) like the Italian Lorenzo Musetti, the Russian Daniil Medvedev and the Danish Holger Rune.
