The Rhinelanders prevail against the SCP and celebrate their second win in the second game of the season. Darmstadt, on the other hand, prevents the complete false start.

Fortuna Düsseldorf has at least temporarily taken the lead in the 2nd division. At the start of the second matchday on Friday, the Rhinelanders won 2-1 (2-1) against SC Paderborn and thus kept their clean sheet. Dawid Kownacki (2nd) and Rouwen Hennings (30th) scored in the first half for Fortuna’s success, Felix Platte (21st) was only able to equalize temporarily. Paderborn woke up too late and couldn’t keep the form from last weekend’s 5-0 win over Karlsruher SC.

Paderborn missed a good chance to take the lead after just a few seconds through newcomer Sirlord Conteh and got the cold shower: Kownacki scored ice cold after preparatory work from Shinta Appelkamp.

Both teams then acted with open visors, Hennings countered Platte’s equalizer from close range. After the change of sides, the game flattened out a bit, Düsseldorf concentrated on counterattacking and brought the home win for coach Daniel Thioune’s team over time.

Darmstadt makes amends

In the second game of the evening, Darmstadt 98 beat SV Sandhausen 2:1 (1:1) and was able to prevent the complete false start to the new season. The “lilies” had lost the start of the season 0:2 at Jahn Regensburg.
