Muscular problems

National coach Julian Nagelsmann has to compensate for the next loss due to injury. As the association announced, Jamie Leweling from VfB Stuttgart has left the DFB camp in Herzogenaurach. The 25-year-old offensive player is not available to the German national team for the friendly matches against Switzerland in Basel on Friday and against Ghana in Stuttgart on Monday.

Leweling had already missed VfB’s 5-2 win against FC Augsburg at the weekend due to muscular problems. The four-time international was previously in good form and had been involved in seven goals in eleven Bundesliga games since the beginning of the year. On Monday he initially traveled to the national team’s team headquarters as planned and underwent further examinations there. Nagelsmann did not nominate another player.

On Monday, the national coach had to react to the injury-related absences of midfielders Felix Nmecha (25) and Aleksandar Pavlovic (21). He then nominated Leweling’s teammates Angelo Stiller and Chris Führich. Together with Alexander Nübel, Deniz Undav and Josha Vagnoman, the Swabians form the largest block after FC Bayern.
