Next Bayern loss: Tuchel assumes Coman has a “somewhat serious” knee injury

The belief that Bayern will win silverware this year is slowly fading. Leverkusen are incredibly confident, even now that some of the players are in the Africa Cup. It’s still close at the top, of course, but there’s no sign of Beyer slumping while Bayern are dropping points or narrowly winning games.

Boey will strengthen the defense, both in the short and long term. But the fresh injuries around Laimer, Upamecano and Coman are more serious.

This is neither Tuchel’s fault nor that of the squad planner, but it is what it is.

If Dier and De Ligt leave in the summer, a highly gifted IV will probably come along, I’m counting on Da Silva, Diomande, Inacio or Yoro (top candidate, would suit Freund).

Then of course there is still a lot of money left over with which they will try everything to get Wirtz. It doesn’t matter whether it’s 2024 or 2025. But probably more like 2025 because Wirtz probably wants to play another season in Leverkusen and Müller will probably retire in 2025.

If the top talents around Tel and Pavlovic come into play and Musiala and Sane are extended, it will still be one of the best teams in the world.
