Dr. Escaray, how were your beginnings in the legal profession?
It could be said that my beginnings were in June 2009 when I graduated, but in reality I began to “exercise” as a boy, when every afternoon I accompanied my father to his study and played at being a lawyer, copying documents with a typewriter, talking with clients while they waited for him and even with policemen when he accompanied him to a police station.
When I was older and without his physical company, I began to study Law at the National University of La Plata and did internships in different legal studies. But the big step was in 2012, when I had the opportunity to work with Poty Montenegro, one of the most recognized Lawyers with the longest experience in the city of La Plata, very generous with everyone and especially with me, by transmitting numerous teachings and values.
After his death in 2015, I decided to take those teachings and continue my path independently.
What services are provided at the Studio?
I developed the Escaray Law Firm, with full dedication to criminal cases and with the premise of providing a reliable service, close to its clients, taking into special consideration the bad reputation that justice has in the country and especially Criminal Lawyers, without generate false expectations or unfulfillable promises, because experience has shown me that frankness in the face of adversity does not generate a loss of clients, but confidence for what will come. In this sense, I consider it essential to use permanent communication, using clear language and without technical terms, through which people have real knowledge about the status of their cases and the evolution of their procedural situation, whether they are in the role of victims or defendants and that their families have it in the same way.
What are the challenges ahead of you?
Undoubtedly, new challenges are coming due to social, cultural and technological changes, in addition to the changing criminal policies linked to the governments in power, that is why I want to continue growing in the practice of the profession, increasing and perfecting our work team that Currently, it is made up of three Lawyers, a Lawyer and an intern who is about to graduate.
Also, in this search to get everyone to approach Criminal Law in the way they prefer, I began to generate legal content on social networks such as Instagram (@estudio_escaray) Facebook (Gonzalo Escaray) and Tik Tok (Gonza Escaray), and also in podcast format on spotify called “Columna Penal”.
