How did the company come about?
Dalmatian, appears as a project between brothers in the forties. It started as a hobby during confinement, to combat boredom, which allowed us to unleash our creativity and above all, we wanted to do something that identifies us. We started with an old kettle, but after a short time, we realized that we wanted our product to be for everyone and not just for us. The time had come to do something professional, which led us to train, to study the market to deepen our knowledge of gin, and then we bought our first still.
After testing and researching over 100 recipes and identifying opportunities in a growing market, we began to develop our brand. A year passed, nothing more, and today we have a distillery where we produce 8,000 liters of gin per month and our projection is to triple the current operating capacity.
What products and services do they offer?
Dálmata proposes two variants of gin: the traditional Dry Gin that combines twelve botanicals macerated in cold, and separately, another four using the steam entrainment technique; and also the fruity Dry Gin, distilled through cold maceration of a few botanicals and steam dragging of citrus skins. Finally, we offer a box in four different formats from a box of six botanicals, to a Premium box with botanicals, glass, measurer and gin.
From a marketing point of view, our team is developing two lines that will accompany the classic bottle. It’s about Vera and Otto, a citrus recipe and an herbal one, both will be on the shelves in a few months. Our public is people between 25 and 35 years old and we produce products designed for them.
What challenges do they face?
We recently had an accident when the plant caught fire, which caused us to lose everything. That made us see the business from another angle: produce on scale and reach other countries. We currently have a presence throughout the country, but our goal for next year is to export heavily. We believe that each one puts the ceiling on himself, therefore, this is the beginning of something very big.
