New York Jets: Will star quarterback Aaron Rodgers return for Christmas?

New York Jets quarterback Aaron Rodgers appears to be making great strides toward a comeback in the NFL following the Achilles tendon injury he suffered at the start of the season. Now he should have specific dates in mind.

On Sunday, Ian Rapoport from the “NFL Network” reported that Rodgers is now at a stage in his rehab that he can imagine a comeback on Christmas Eve. In Week 16, the New York Jets play at home against the Washington Commanders.

According to the report, the conditions for such a return have not changed. Rodgers has to be able to protect himself and the Jets still have to be seriously in the playoff race. They are currently 4-5 and have two tough games ahead of them. In week 11 it’s against the Buffalo Bills, and in week 12 against the Miami Dolphins in the NFL’s first Black Friday game.

According to Jay Glazer from “FOX Sports,” another indication of Rodgers’ imminent return is a video that Rodgers is said to have sent to his teammates. This shows him training. The pictures are said to have “blown away” his colleagues, as Glazer reports. What’s more: Glazer claims to have learned that Rodgers is specifically planning to return to training on December 2nd.

Rodgers: Possible timetable for return is set

However, it is unclear what type of training Rodgers did in the video in question. And whether Rodgers would return to team training on December 2nd. More likely there is individual training. In any case, he would have to be registered to return that day.

He is currently on the Injured Reserve List and would have 21 days from that point to be included in the 53-player squad. In this case, that would be one day before December 24th, when he could possibly return.
