Da small survey among friends showed that the majority of them believe that next year will be a better year. “Good!”, you will say. I would not know. Among the prevailing reasons is that why “2024 was a leap year…” and the other one for which “Worse than that…”.

TV series: the best of 2024 from “One Day” to “Rivals”

In short, not exactly the best. I even find it endearing that someone over the edge tries to glimpse the signs of something positive in their future from today. Personally I have changed the object of my expectations and I decided to ask myself if 2025 will bring me something new.

In 2025 we are looking for something new

The reasons are many. The first is that wishing for something new implies that we will not be disappointed when that something materializes in a negative way. But I realize that, among the reasons, this is the least seductive. So let’s say that wishing for something new is certainly a sign of vitality: the new requires acceptance and adaptation.

On the contrary, human beings are used to saving themselves, creating daily routines that sometimes do not even require thought. Newness, however, requires courage and can sometimes go so far as to bring about a revolution. Take your wardrobe where not even a pin can fit anymore. There comes a certain moment when you have to come to terms with it: something will enter there as long as something else comes out of it. Cleaning is a necessary operation to make room for the new, and should be done before being overwhelmed by the old.

Wishing for something new also means overcoming your own limits. I went to the first lesson of the acting course I took, believing that having done amateur theater as a girl for almost ten years would protect me from the unexpected. And instead I realized that the person I had enrolled in the course was a new and different creature compared to that girl. And that I should let myself be disheveled by the emotions that acting could produce in the new me. Here, for next year I would like to wish you all to let yourselves be disheveled by something new. Because always being yourself, the mantra of our times, is really boring.

Emotions, memories, reflections addressed from two different points of view.
