Tony Iommi, composer and founder of Black Sabbath, has announced in an eight-minute video for New Year’s 2023 that he wants to start work on a new album as soon as possible. It would be their first solo album since 2000’s Iommi.

Here is the video and the message:

In the video message, the 74-year-old says: “2022 was a good year for me, at least in parts. I wrote and recorded. I also had a new studio built which I couldn’t be happier with. The studio is now complete and almost ready to go. I’m just waiting for some equipment. The war has interrupted the transport routes, but we’re almost done with it. In a few weeks I’ll finally be able to settle down there and do what I’m really looking forward to – writing a new album.”

News from Black Sabbath

In the video, Iommi also confirms once again that the new editions of the Black Sabbath records with singer Tony Martin are to be released in 2023. He’s looking forward to that, because: “There will be a lot going on again, and that’s the great thing.”
