Swimming enthusiasts had to do it for half a year without their favorite swimming pool De Veur. Waiting has now come to an end, because the 33 -year -old swimming pool has been renovated. Indebuurt took a look at the ‘nice’ warm building.

Of course you experience the ambient temperature in your swimsuit differently than in winter clothing, but during our visit to the renovated building it was sweating. As a parent, do you want to look at your child’s swimming lesson, or watch a water polo competition from the stands? Then we have a tip for you: don’t dress too hot.

Wooden ceiling

“After 33 years it was time to deal with the swimming pool from 1967,” says Dennis van Wissen, project manager at the municipality. The building has been given a completely new look with blue mosaic tiles, a fixed glass wall between the baths, a new scoreboard, mint green lockers and renovated changing rooms. “It was a huge job to get the wooden ceiling out.”

Diving boards and banks

The old separate benches have been replaced by fixed stone benches around the competition bath. Striking: these sofas are heated. The swimming pool water has been in use since 2009 and has been replaced for 1,200 cubic meters of fresh water. “By using more durable substances in the bathing water, we no longer rinse chlorine and sulfuric acid through the sewer,” explains Dennis.

Bommetje … tje … tje!

The acoustics in the renovated building are striking. Where the voices of screaming children and calling swimmers normally echo through space, there is now a kind of peace. Of course there is no audience during our visit, but during the tour the voice of the project leader does not echo. “By using other materials and a ceiling with Brekers above it you hear sounds less hard,” says Dennis.

Plans for later

At a later time, the lobby, the entrance and the sports hall next to the pool get a makeover. The old diving boards of one and three meters long will also be replaced later. “At the moment the budget is finished and a new diving board costs thousands of euros,” says Dennis.

Driesprong is closed

In Zoetermeer there are a total of four swimming pools with their own function. We list them:

  • In swimming pool De Veur on Prismalaan you can go for job swimming, swimming lessons, group lessons and target group lessons.
  • In the Watergeus on the Van der Hagenstraat you can go for swimming lessons, job swimming, group lessons and recreational swimming.
  • The Driesprong on the Van Stolberglaan is definitely closed. The municipality is going to demolish the building and there is no municipal swimming pool in return. With the future plans for the mayor Vernèd Sportpark, it is possible that there will be a new, private swimming pool, according to Alderman Sport Ronald Weerwag.
  • You can go for swimming lessons in swimming pool ‘t Keerpunt on Van der Hagenstraat.
