New study crowns Taylor Swift the “Queen of Pop,” but “King of Pop” Justin Bieber is better

Taylor Swift is the most popular female pop artist of the 21st century. This is what a current study by Slingo wants to show. The result – the so-called “Pop Royalty Score” – was determined using factors such as Spotify, Instagram and TikTok data, charts and global Google searches from the last year.

The “Cruel Summer” singer is far ahead of second-place Nicki Minaj with her 84.9 million monthly Spotify listeners. which according to Slingo streamed by 48.7 million people per month. Another record is Swift’s 233 songs that made it into the charts. Minaj only achieved this with 155 of her songs released.

Third place goes to Ariana Grande, who particularly scores with her TikTok community. With her 31.8 million followers, she has almost twice as many as the artists in the first two ranks. Additionally, with her 74.3 million monthly Spotify listeners, she is well above Minaj. Beyoncé and Rihanna fall in ninth and tenth place.

In addition to the female artists, the men were also ranked. Justin Bieber was named “King of Pop”. It even achieved a “Pop Royalty Score” of 8.94. This even surpasses Taylor Swift’s 8.77 points. Ed Sheeran takes second place among the most popular male pop artists. “Blinding Lights” singer The Weeknd falls to third place.
