Guns N’ Roses played a concert in Paris on Thursday (July 13) as part of their current world tour. Before the concert, band manager Tom Mayhue spoke to some members of the media about the upcoming plans of Axl Rose and his group. The main thing that came out was that, according to Mayhue, a new single could be released very soon.
He also said Guns N’ Roses has already finished recording the new material. He pointed out that they would most likely hit the studio later this year to continue working together. First of all, however, the musicians wanted to successfully complete the final gigs of their current tour, according to manager Mayhue. The band’s major tour will conclude on October 16, 2023 with their performance at BC Place Stadium in Vancouver, Canada.
“You’ve already recorded a lot of stuff”
“I know the band will start working on new music. You’ve already recorded a lot of stuff. So there will be new music from Guns N’ Roses very soon,” Tom Mayhue said optimistically to the press. “In fact, I think they’re always trying to put out a new single, so maybe we’ll hear something very, very soon.”
Mayhue also gave a glimpse of the potential sound of the upcoming music, announcing that the new tracks would be similar to that of her successful 1987 debut album, Appetite For Destruction. “It sounds great. It’s much more ‘appetite based’,” he explained. “They had a lot of songs. When the band originally recorded ‘Appetite For Destruction’ I think they recorded about 29 songs. So there was a lot of other music left that didn’t make it onto the first record. I think there are only eleven songs on the first record.”
In October 2022, guitarist Slash also confirmed that while the members were excited to write new material, they wanted to release some leftover recordings first. “I’d like to go in and make a whole new record at some point, probably sooner rather than later,” he said during an interview with SiriusXM. “But…we have things that we have yet to release,” Slash said.
