New rector Petra de Sutter opens UGent academic year: just like in Leuven Pro -Palestinian protest – campaigners disrupt short ceremony

Today, the UGent academic year is officially opened. Traditionally, proffs and dignitaries pull through the streets. But Pro-Palestinian campaigners already announced an action in advance for the university building, where the ceremony is now taking place entirely indoors. For the new rector Petra de Sutter, it is therefore not a quiet opener of the academic year.
