In 1978 in Rome, the aspiring director Enea met Pietro, a shy and introverted boy. Their first meeting takes place on New Olympus, a cinema for homosexual encounters run by Titti (Luisa Ranieri). Between two love at first sight strikes and they arrange to meet the next day. They go to Alice’s grandmother’s (Aurora Giovinazzo) plot and decide to meet again the next day.

Fate, however, has a hand in it. And the series of meetings is interrupted for a while a series of unexpected events that prevent Pietro from showing up for the appointment. So they lose sight of themselves. Ten years later, they lead two different lives. Enea has finally made his directorial debut and reaps the fruits of success. Her first film tells of her love story with Pietro. Pietro is a doctor and married Giulia (Greta Scarano). And it is Giulia herself who notices a particular melancholy in her husband’s gaze, she feels that he is hiding something from her.

A few years later, their eyes meet on board a train. And it’s the beginning of another journey. The one in which they try to find themselves, but they still have to face a sometimes sadistic destiny. Until the grand finale, when maybe they have the chance to find each other, but in the middle there are choices and the paths of two lives that took different directions.

Who is Damiano Gavino, Manuel of A professor

Born in 2001, Damiano Gavino he is one of the faces of the new generation of actors who are making their way. New Olympus it is his second film after his debut in The boat in 2021. Fame came with A professorthe Rai 1 series starring Alessandro Gassmann in which he plays Manuel Ferro.

His path crosses with that of Simone (Nicolas Maupas), son of professor Dante Balestra (Alessandro Gassmann). They are best friends, but Simone soon realizes he feels something more and declares himself. A back-and-forth begins, culminating in a kiss at the end of the first season. Both will be present in the second, out next November 16th in prime time on Rai 1. He also starred in the series Shakeavailable on RaiPlay.

He is a sportsman and music enthusiast. Among the activities practiced are basketball, football, swimming, skiing and tennis. Regarding musical instruments, drums, guitar, double bass and piano. Nothing is known about his private life. Regarding the meeting with Özpetek, however, he says that he was «beautiful. It was in the audition phase, we had a conversation in front of the camera. I think maybe I noticed there that there could be something that linked me to the character of Pietro», he explained during the presentation at the Rome Film Festival.

As regards the filming, the Turkish director let «the characters come closer to us and not vice versa. He has always respected this and there was great listening on set, even twisting the script before shooting. A very creative moment in which we could feel inside the story. It was a path guided by a great master, to whom I entrusted myself. It was a wonderful journey,” he concluded.
