New in the database: 1972/73 Ligue 1 season with champions FC Nantes

…better and better!

The 1972/73 Ligue 1 season is now available in the Transfermarkt database. FC Nantes became champions that year ahead of Nice and Olympique Marseille. OM’s Josip Skoblar was honored as the best goalscorer, scoring 26 goals. The former Hanoverian, who beat Bernard Lacombe (Olympique Lyon) and Hervé Revelli (OGC Nice), achieved the feat of winning this title three times in a row. From 1971 to 1973, the former center forward was always at the top of France’s football upper echelon.

Gilbert Gress (ex-Stuttgart), Erich Maas (ex-Bayern, Braunschweig and Saarbrücken), Harald Klose (ex-Leverkusen and Schalke), Pierre-Albert “Gabet” Chapuisat, Michel Platini (former UEFA President and world footballer), Dieter Hackl (formerly Würzburger Kickers), Stan Libuda (ex-Schalke and Dortmund) and Heinz van Haaren (ex-Schalke and Duisburg).
