A deadly shooting took place in downtown Washington DC near the White House on Wednesday, seriously wounding two members of the West Virginia National Guard. The incident happened around the intersection of 17th Street and I Street, NW, near the entrance to the Farragut West subway station. Eyewitnesses filmed Metropolitan Police Department (MPD) officers administering first aid to the seriously injured service members. The White House went into lockdown after the shooting. US President Donald Trump is currently at his estate in Florida, but the news obviously reached him quickly. The suspect’s motive is still unknown, but his identity has been established.
