New head of purchasing comes from Breuninger

The outdoor retailer Bergfreunde GmbH has a new head of purchasing. In the new Head of Buying position, Michael Vieweger will be responsible for all third-party brand purchasing.

Vieweger takes over the 30-strong purchasing team at Bergfreunde and is responsible for operational and strategic purchasing. The online specialist retailer announced on Tuesday that his main tasks are in the development of medium- and long-term purchasing and assortment strategies as well as the ongoing optimization of key figures such as sales, margin and inventory turnover.

Vieweger will report directly to Jürgen Krause, who will continue to lead the entire “Merchandising & Buying” team with around 70 employees. Most recently, he worked as Purchasing Manager for Sports at Breuninger, where he worked for more than 20 years.

“We are pleased that we were able to win Michael Vieweger with his experience to strengthen strategic purchasing and we are sure that he will provide new impetus,” explained Matthias Gebhard, one of the managing directors of Bergfreunde.

Bergfreunde GmbH is an online retailer for mountain sports, climbing and outdoors. The online shop includes 40,000 items from over 850 brands and is localized for twelve European markets such as the Netherlands and France.
