After almost a year, meeting place De Stut is up and running! in Zuidlaren at full speed. While initially there was a search for the right formula, both residents of the care farm and residents now enjoy creative activities and cooking afternoons.
According to activities supervisor Kirsten Jongkamp, De Stut! a place for people who sometimes feel lonely or are facing burnout. “But also for people who enjoy being creative and want to meet other people. That is possible here on Tuesdays and Fridays,” says Jongkamp.
Cooking is central on Friday. “Then I cook with a group of people and we have fun together from 11 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.,” Jongkamp explains. Everyone who comes by is given a task in the kitchen, from cutting vegetables to preparing the meal. Jongkamp laughs: “You have to earn the meal a little.”
The collaboration with De Stiep care farm appears to be a golden combination. Not only residents of the farm benefit from the activities, residents can also walk in and participate freely. “Everything has a start-up problem and needs a start-up, but it is now starting to run smoothly,” says Jongkamp. “We also try to cook with the regional products that we have here on the land.”
Future visitors don’t have to worry about signing in or a lack of mobility. “It is a walk-in without registration,” says Jongkamp. “I even have the option of picking people up with our van. A wheelchair can also enter here.”
