New FCK coach: Grammozis succeeds Schuster in Kaiserslautern

A few days after parting ways with Dirk Schuster, 1. FC Kaiserslautern found a new coach: Dimitrios Grammozis is the Red Devils’ new coach. Even as a player, he laced up his shoes for the Palatinate team.

Dimitrios Grammozis is the new coach of 1. FC Kaiserslautern. The Palatinate team parted ways with previous coach Dirk Schuster after five games without a win. Grammozis will be officially introduced on Monday, December 4, 2023, as part of the press conference before the DFB Cup round of 16 against 1. FC Nürnberg (Tuesday, 6 p.m.). The FCK did not provide any information about the duration of the contract.

Grammozis was already leading the training on Sunday (December 3rd). On Saturday, the Palatinate team lost 1:4 (1:1) at 1. FC Magdeburg.

The 45-year-old already played for FCK as a player. Grammozis was under contract with the Red Devils from 2000 to 2005 and made 92 appearances (three goals) as a defensive midfielder during this time.

Grammozis worked as a coach in the youth ranks at VfL Bochum, at SV Darmstadt 98 and most recently at Schalke 04 until the beginning of March 2022.
