Alex Maerz takes over the management for the climbing and outdoor provider Black Diamond in Europe based in Austria and the USA.
Maerz was appointed to the role of General Manager for the Europe, the Middle East and Africa (EMEA), Black Diamond said on Thursday. He competes with effect from April 1.
The new European chief comes from the mountain and trekking shoe manufacturer Hanwa to Black Diamond, where he most recently worked as a chief sales and marketing officer. He has more than 25 years of experience in the sporting goods area. In his new role, Maerz should take responsibility for the entire EMEA region and further expand the brand presence in the core markets.
“His strategic look, its international expertise and his passion for innovative products go perfectly with our brand and our goals,” said Neil Fiske, President of Black Diamond equipment. “In addition, Alex is the right line -up for our team in Europe, in which many committed and talented employees are already active.”
