Eugen Polanski has signed a long-term contract as head coach of Borussia Mönchengladbach.
Borussia Monchengladbach relies on Eugen Polanski for the long-term coaching question. As the club announced on Tuesday (11/18/2025), the previous interim solution on the sidelines will receive a contract until 2028.
The 39-year-old took over following the dismissal of Gerardo Seoane after the third matchday and recently celebrated three competitive game wins in a row with Borussia.
“Eugen convinced us”
“Eugen impressed us right from the start with his content and character qualities, and we are sure that with him as head coach we can continue the positive development of the last few weeks,” said sports director Rouven Schröder.
After five games without a win at the start, Polanski managed to turn the trend around in the league with his recent successes at FC St. Pauli (4:0) and in the derby against 1. FC Köln (3:1), leading the struggling traditional club from 18th place to twelfth place. He also moved Borussia into the round of 16 of the DFB Cup with a 3-1 win against Karlsruher SC.
“Fills me with pride”
“I have never made a secret of what this job at my hometown club means to me. Being head coach at Borussia gives me immense joy and fills me with pride,” said Polanski, who previously coached the club’s U23s.
For Polanski it is the first coaching position in the professional sector. During his active career, which he ended in the summer of 2018, he had, among other things, 44 Bundesliga-Played games for Borussia.
